process

Full service design & build projects take 4-6 weeks.

In order to be able to create a Landing Page in a Week, I use several AI products. Relume’s AI helps in the site map and wireframing stage, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT helps in the copywriting stage. For the images, I use Flatiron, Microsoft’s Designer, and Visual Electric.

For design & build projects

Discovery

I want to learn all I can about your business, competitors, and clients. I want to understand your mission, values, and goals.

If you have a website, I want to know what is working for you and what isn’t. I also want to know what you have in mind for your new site - not just in terms of look and feel, also in terms of what you need it to do for you.

Research

Before designing anything, I spend time laying a solid foundation. A competitive audit is done to see how other companies/people in your industry are presenting themselves. Then, inspiration is gathered and organized in moodboards that help me see a wide range of possibilities - layouts, font pairings, use of color, style of assets, and treatments for images.

This step is important to ensuring that your website will stand out and speak directly to your audience.

Wireframes & design

Iteration is the name of the game. I will push and pull the information around to find the layouts and style that works best for your brand. If necessary, I will create custom assets and/or help with the copy.

Before any actual design is done with color, images or elements, you’ll choose the design direction you like best from at least two of my wireframe explorations.

With alignment on the direction and the incorporation of any feedback, we open the second phase of the project and I get to work on the design. Weekly meetings are important to me so we stay aligned and there are no surprises.

Build

Using Webflow, I will bring the design to life with custom animation, micro-interactions, and whatever integrations your website needs to meet your goals.

hand off & After Care

After integrating your final feedback, cleaning up the file, setting up your on-site SEO, creating your favicon, connecting your URL, publishing the site, and the payment of the final invoice, I will hand off the site to you.

If your site has a CMS, you’ll receive a custom video that shows you how to add items to your collection.

If your website will need updates on a regular basis, let’s discuss a retainer.

Site Map & Wireframes

I use Relume to create site maps until I have understood what sections and pages are needed to best organize and present the information. Even at this stage, I will try to push the limits on the standard expectations of layout.

For the wireframes, I take pen to paper to draw ideas out before seeing if I can utilize any Relume components. This way the information is not shoe-horned into cookie-cutter layouts.

Branding

The branding for these Pages in a Week is basic. If you don’t already have your branding defined, I will take some time to play with the name of the company to find an overall shape that works, a font that allows a visually interesting character connection, or a cool icon that fits the brand.

I’ll lean into choice of colors and fonts with the idea of creating something unique, colorful and bold. I prefer statement fonts, but I also understand that sometimes understated is the way to go.

If you already have fonts, colors and a logo defined, I will grab the baton and begin running.

Competitive Audit & Moodboards

I not only gather images of how other people in your industry are presenting themselves, I also gather images from various sources that catch my eye and spark ideas.

Creating moodboards is a critical part of the process as I pull together inspiration for the overall feel of the site as well as font pairings, image treatments, design details, and layout.

Design

With a solid understanding of the direction I will take the design, I get to work in Figma.

Although the branding is basic, you will be given a simple Style Guide at the completion of the project in addition to the landing page.
